Company Overview
Afrisun Industries Limited is a Tanzanian agro-processing company founded by a team of young agricultural professionals united by a shared vision of transforming Africa’s agricultural value chains through innovation, value addition, and sustainable development.
The company was established after its founders identified a critical challenge within Tanzania’s agricultural sector: despite being one of Africa’s leading sunflower-producing countries, Tanzania continues to experience a significant edible oil deficit, resulting in substantial imports to meet domestic demand. At the same time, sunflower productivity remains below global averages, limiting the sector’s full potential.
Inspired by modern agricultural practices and technologies observed during an agricultural internship program in Israel, the founders envisioned a company that would not only process agricultural products but also support farmers with knowledge, innovation, and market-driven solutions.
Following their return to Tanzania, the founders formally registered Afrisun Industries Limited, mobilized capital, acquired processing equipment, and established operations in Ileje District, Songwe Region. The company’s primary oil distribution outlet is located in Kabwe, Mbeya City.
